Just a word of warning, pre-ordering from Amazon means a long wait for your archive. I just got mine today 3/25/2003. It looks great, except for the bizarre Bob Kane credits all over the book. I feel like a little kid being told that the stork delivers babies. Joe IP: Logged |

Once again, folks: comic shops (and anyone else who orders from Diamond Comic Distributors) get stuff what amounts to a month early. Amazon and all the other regular booksellers who go through Warner for their distribution of DC product aren't being slow or dilatory--the books that WE think of as February releases will only just now have been sent to them. This is normal. It isn't likely to change. If you absolutely have to have your archives and trades when Previews says they should be available, then you should all patronize your local comic shop and pay the price for his being there. I did the Amazon thing as experiment, mainly because the comic store I go through requires pre-payment for the great discount/service etc. DD was soliciated so far in advance that I didn't feel like paying $35 and having to wait 5-6 months for the book. In any case, Amazon now has relationship w/Diamond. It'll be interesting to see if Amazon gets new books faster. As far as the local store vs. Amazon argument goes, I go where I get the best balance of service and price, whether it's comics, music, movies, etc. None of the local comic stores in my area compare to the mail order store I use or to Amazon. Wellwellwellwell I guess it is likely to change very soon at that. This should be good for both Amazon and Diamond, I guess--we'll see how it affects shops. And whether service improves. Not much excuse for it not to now... IP: Logged |

And maybe some of those previously-mysterious "Amazon numbers" will start showing up in pre-order totals... - Bill IP: Logged |

Out of curiousity, I followed the link to Amazon's graphic novel section. The top 200 sellers have three archives listed: 69 - Golden Age Spectre 1 (listed as not available until April 2003) I thought it was interesting that Hal was the best seller of the older books. Perhaps those people who are clamoring for GREEN LANTERN to go annually may be onto something... p.s. This was as of 1:00pm 3/26 IP: Logged |
